Holland as an example of transport provision

This commonplace scene in Rotterdam close to the Erasmus bridge is an example of sensible allocation of urban space.
Cars don’t get to dominate, and a tram system is neatly placed in the Centre.
Of interest is the realtime information on tram operations in the station-side boards.
There is Metro system with a station entrance at right, which is not visible.
With a mass population, India needs many such systems and their integration.
It is a matter of concern that even existing investments in GPS and information systems – as in Chennai MTC bus network – have gone waste due to bureaucracy problems and political indifference.
More on this soon.
